-Cellulits, also called gynoid lipodystrophy, is a deep tissue disorder that is characterized by the uneven distribution of subcutaneous adipose tissue giving rise to an irregular, dimpled skin surface. This is hypothesized to be a result of subcutaneous adipose tissue deposits that become embedded in a three-dimensional collagen network, protrude into the lower reticular dermis and as a result create irregularities at the epidermal surface.
